Today, Help Me English is proud to introduce a new feature of the service: Power Notes.
In my experience, students in general are not very effective note takers when it comes to language learning. Surely, it is easier to jot down dates and locations of battles in lecture of history, or it is clearer to record electron-boundaries in chemistry than to ‘quick-put’ on paper what makes a language work and how it is spoken well.
Also, a lot of learners tend to get lost in their bits of notepapers, workbooks, post-its and what not, and once they need to search for a specific piece of information, they fail. I know this because I used to be like this. And I would have loved if teachers either in the high school or the uni would have provided me with what I’m about to offer. :)
HME Power Notes assists the student in effective note taking by providing an interactive, functional extra. Since I use a projector and a laptop instead of a blackboard, the notes I put on it are saved in a Microsoft Word document. Every important bit of info is put into the note with a short explanation [mainly in English], just as links, references and anything else. When a session ends, and the student goes home, the Power Note is sent in an email to him/her, enabling the student to quickly browse through all the items we have discussed in the session.
Why is this something to announce? Well, this feature is unique in terms of private language teaching, and my competition doesn’t apply it because it is somewhat time consuming on the tutor’s part. But let me worry about that! This feature is available to all HME students and it is free of charge. Again, one more reason to learn functional language at Help Me English! See you at Loffice!
